Bluetooth at Work

Bluetooth comes into it's own in the office environment. With Bluetooth-enabled laptops, PCs, printers and PDAs, it is possible to wirelessly synchronise your calendar from your PC to your PDA just by being near it. Also, you can transfer documents through the air from your laptop to your colleague's desktop PC.

You can browse the Internet on your PDA by connecting through a Bluetooth basestation, and when you find something useful, you can print it at the tap of a stylus directly to the office printer. All of this is possible, wirelessly, with Bluetooth technology.

It doesn't need to stop there, the applications and range of Bluetooth devices is growing all the time. In the future, Bluetooth chips may be used instead of office keycards - you simply walk up to the door and it is already unlocked for you after checking your clearance with the Bluetooth chip in your pocket. The possibilities are wide ranging and with Bluetooth chips being built in to most modern laptops it seems like tthe technology is here to stay.
